The Pretender Episode Guide
A trip down memory lane.
Episode Guide | Inner Sense
The “Inner Sense” was the cliffhanger that almost wasn’t resolved. On the show, we of course took it as a good sign that the network wanted another cliffhanger for our season finale and that’s what we did. Thanks to all of you great viewers and loyal fans, we were able to resume the Pretender saga on TNT, picking up on the subway aftermath leading into “Pretender 2001”.
Season finales are tricky in that crafting a two-hour that ties both of our worlds and all of our characters into one big story with one conclusion is not easy. Fortunately (and yes, thanks to some clever planning), we did ourselves a favor by having a rich group of characters and lore to tap from. We always knew that Jarod’s family, Miss Parker’s mom’s death and her Centre ties, were always prime material. In this one, we discovered a story that hit both Jarod and Miss Parker equally hard; the revelation of a mutual half-brother, Ethan. Even more fun for us, was uncovering the true story of Catherine’s death and the fact that, after exhaustive research into everything we’d set up, it made logical sense and fit nicely into a seam in the lore that allowed us to do it.
While you fans may’ve found a few mistakes in some of our story logic, we always strove to be true to the world of ‘The Pretender’, to treat these characters and this environment as real, so that the viewers felt an authenticity to the world they entered every Saturday night from their homes.
We were blessed with a wonderful cast, diligent crew and an immensely creative staff of writers, directors and producers with whom to do this show. We hope our sincere care and love for ‘The Pretender’ came through and that there will be an opportunity to do more. We’re optimistic there will be and look forward to that possibility.
