Steven Long Mitchell:
Ok next is a letter from Mallory and it’s called “the greatest gift”. I won’t read the all thing it’s here but I encourage you to read it because it’s beautiful. But there are a couple of things that really jumped on me and I wanted to just pass them along. Part of it says “I was identified as gifted as a young child, but there was no real academic support system in place for kids like me. One Saturday night, I discovered a show called the Pretender, where a child genius was the central character. I was taken by the notion that throughout the program, his abilities were lauded, not shunned. The Pretender provided a sense of validation that I had been longing for- I empathised with Jarod, but found strength from Miss Parker, quiet wisdom from Sydney, and a sense of humour from Broots. tP taught me that my brain is my most powerful weapon, injustice can be overcome, there are always new discoveries to be had, and most importantly, that life is a gift.”
We couldn’t agree more and at the end of her letter, Mallory mentions a thing about how from literally around the world that she’s made so many great friends and they have become this family and again it’s because of the gift this guys have given us and Mallory is someone who we lean on and God knows she’s gifted, she’s more than gifted, she’s brilliant. She’s a brilliant young lady and we’re honored to have her as part of – not as part of our family – but to be part of hers. So, thank you Mallory and we look forward to many more years of this.
THE CHASE BEGINS!
the red file project
A project made from the fans of the Pretender, after the announcement that the Pretender would be back. On the anniversary of the Pretender, on September 19th 2013, the fans gave us this amazing file, containing art, letters, and we were thrilled with the love we received. Now it’s time to thank them back.
